Whimsical representation of the Italian Christmas Eve dinner Feast of the Seven Fishes ....

Leslie says,

"The two young Kissing Fish have found an “out of the way” corner“ and are getting acquainted.   The Octopus, as usual,  can’t keep his hands to himself and is hanging all over“the” only single female in the room.   Fortunately, he’s harmless.  “She” thinks she is a star, and is hogging center stage, singing to the Bass.

Of course, the Bass doesn’t mind.  Single and good looking, he’s an asset to any gathering.   And, the Bass plays a mean guitar.  But, he has a big mouth.   Be careful what you say within his earshot.   That said, he probably won’t pay much attention to you.   He’s too busy trying to impress Star.   Nearby the Shark, as always, is leering and hanging in far too close.   He is competing with the Bass for Star’s attention - two macho males in the same room can be a bit much.

The Monkfish is trying, desperately, with his holier than thou attitude, to ignore the antics of the Kissing Fish (and everyone else, for that matter.)  He’s out of the limelight, trying to sincerely practice humility.  And, finally - the Shrimp.   Kids are inevitable at an event like this.  But, geesh, those Shrimps are under foot and under fin everywhere.

It might be your family’s holiday dinner - or the inevitable office party.   In any event, it’s the Feast of the Seven Fishes! Merry Christmas!"

  • Full size line drawing with a chart to assist in enlarging or reducing.

Leslie says, “It’s more than a pattern - it’s a classroom on paper!  We’ll explore values and creating depth in a design that uses anthropomorphism.  We’ll discuss how to build an effective focal area.”
