Two white doves nesting on a mailbox ...
 
 
Leslie says "The two doves sit in their nest atop the mailbox in anticipation.  Are they waiting for the mailman to deliver Valentines?  Or are they awaiting their own “special delivery?”
 
 
Surface: AWall pocket from the now defunct Artists’ Club - or - any suitable flat surface.   Paint  only the doves or only the mailbox or both.

The design includes two faux finishes:  the crackled clap board wall and the rusted, galvanized zinc mailbox.    Add the doves, and you have a design called Trompe-l’œil - French for “to fool the eye.

 
You don’t like lettering?   That’s no problem.  In fact, that is wonderful.   The mail box is old and rusted and dinged and dented.   If your lettering is too good, it will look fake and ruin the mailbox.   And, we’ll paint in a number of layers, so that both your mistakes and your perfections will become invisible."
