Sandra says... the surface to this is Chipboard, only because I didn’t have one of the wooden or metal envelopes at the moment.  I cut it out and painted on it just like wood.  My plan was to show painters that they could use some of the ideas that I had painted on the square boxes.  You could take parts of those designs and paint on a surface like this.  I do recommend the wooden envelopes if they are available.  You may reduce or enlarge the design to fit a surface of your choice..
