About Pamela House
I have always loved crafting of some sort, whether it was knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, I always had to be making something. It wasn’t until I saw some “tole painting” projects made by an employer that I thought, okay, I need to learn to do that!
So, off I went to our local craft store (the only one in town!) and purchased some pattern books, paints, and brushes. Eventually I learned all the basics, and then I purchased my own scroll saw so I could cut my own wood. I sold my hand painted items (mostly ornaments) at the local craft market during the holiday season. I remember one day a lady came along and asked if I had any gingerbread ornaments… well, I did not and my thought was gingerbreads are boring to paint…. yep! that’s what I thought… at that time.
From that time on I was in search of “cute” gingerbread patterns and in the end I decided to start designing my own gingers. Some of the artists who have had a big influence on me are Jamie Mills-Price (which you may see reflected in some of my earlier face designs), Debbie Mitchell (love her sweet bears!), and Karen Wisner (love her attention to detail). I truly admire the work of these artists, however I try to keep my gingers simple and cute, easy and fast to paint up for craft shows!
I am really enjoying designing my own gingers and am constantly working to develop my very own style. I love that I can share these designs with fellow painters, and I hope all of you who purchase or have purchased any of my pattern packets have enjoyed these little cuties as much as me.
I’m not certain what my future may hold…maybe I’ll branch out and do something different in regards to designing, but one thing’s for sure….there will always be gingerbread!
Paint Happy Always!
