Painting with Transparent Glazes

I’ve been playing with my Traditions Artist Acrylics and painting a cute, whimsical card of a jack-o-lantern wearing a witch’s hat in a series of transparent glazes.  While doing this I found a great tool for testing the appearance of transparent glazes before you apply them…

Arleta Pech’s Color Glazing Viewer Tool

Arleta paints in either oils or watercolors, but her tool should work equally well for us acrylic painters.  Just a matter of doing a color conversion of the Winsor Newton paints which she lists.  Her work is exquisite, but you can see from my little pumpkin, transparent glazes can also add interest to a simple decorative painting.

Here’s my little pumpkin painted with transparent glazes on a white greet card which I sealed with Glazing Medium before painting…

I add the lettering in Photoshop.
