Linda Lover talks about her love of color…
It seems I’ve always been drawn to color. From those first crayons to the paints I use today. When I was growing up my grandmother’s walls were filled with framed pictures and every year a new calendar with 12 months of trains traversing the American landscape. Even when we went to the lake, I was anxious to see what color yarn I would tie to my swimsuit strap which signified our paid entry for that day. One winter, I went with a group of kids to a magic show and, to this day, I still remember the string of colorful silk scarves the magician pulled out of his sleeve. It’s only in looking back through adult eyes have I seen how influential color has always been in my life. Even when I started to paint, it was the new country colors being introduced to decorative painting that generated that first interest. As time progressed, it became about self-expression, painting memories or places that I would like to take others through my designs.
Fast forward about 35 years and I’ve had wonderful experiences through decorative painting, publishing, teaching, demonstrating, and working for various companies. But what I value most are the wonderful friends I’ve made along the way and the opportunity to share what I create. Painting is a wonderful way to travel or have spring flowers in December or snowmen in July.
Creativity is endless!
