Dots are important to decorative painting... from creating patterns on clothing or backgrounds to adding highlights to tiny eyes and noses.
It's best to use fresh paint right from the bottle. Fresh paint has the best body and texture to create even round dots.
The EZ Dotz tools are a convenient tool to have in your painting supplies because the tips on the two tools give you 8 graduating sizes of dots . You don't have to search for a brush handle that is rounded and the size you want.
Other than the EZ Dotz tools, you can use the ends of your brush handles (the rounded ones), toothpicks, a stylus, etc. Anything that has a rounded end and is the size you want.
To make evenly-sized dots, dip the end of whichever tool you are using into the paint and touch it down on your surface. Wipe the tool and re-dip for the next dot. Repeat for as many dots as you need. Cleaning and re-dipping for each dot ensures the same amount of paint is used and gives you the same sized dots.
For dots that graduate in size. Dip your tool, then touch down on your surface several times. Each time you touch down, the dot will be smaller because you are using up the paint on the tip of the tool. Wipe your tool and reload for the next group of dots.
If I'm making dots that I don't necessarily want to be round, I will use the tip of my liner brush. This is especially useful for making tiny dots to highlight eyes. I like the slightly oblong dots the liner brush makes.
